About the role

The Program Director is accountable for the end-to-end design, mobilisation and delivery of the amalgamation program, working in close partnership with Eastern Health and Alexandra District Health Chief Executives, Executive teams and local leadership. The role will create the shared governance, operational plans, change and communication strategies, controls and engagement required to achieve legal and practical integration while protecting local identity and leadership, maintaining continuity of care, supporting staff and sustaining community trust.

The program of work will extend beyond the technical amalgamation process to focus on organisational culture support and development, contextual deployment of strategy, integrated business support functions and clinical pathways. 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, business, management, public adminsitration or transformation


• Strong change leadership and strategic communication experience


• Substantial senior leadership experience in a large, complex, highly regulated and multi-site organisation


• Demonstrated personal accountability for successfully leading a comparable merger, amalgamation or major organisational integration from planning and mobilisation through implementation, stabilisation and transition to business as usual


• Capacity to travel regularly between Eastern Health and Alexandra locations and attend meetings outside standard hours when program requirements demand.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
