Project Controller

The Opportunity

Downer’s Industrial & Energy business is seeking an experienced Project Controller professional to join our Western Australian operations, supporting a portfolio of major energy projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role is responsible for providing end-to-end project controls, cost management and financial reporting support, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and meet commercial objectives.

Working closely with Project Managers, Operations, Finance teams and key customer stakeholders, you will play a critical role in maintaining project financial health through accurate forecasting, budgeting, cost analysis, invoicing and performance reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment where your insights directly influence project success.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, accruals and financial performance analysis.
• Monitor project costs and performance, identifying risks, opportunities and cost variances.
• Manage client invoicing, month-end activities and support cash flow management.
• Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely and actionable project insights.
• Be responsible for project reporting, schedule and progress tracking, risk management, resource planning, and performance analysis to support successful project delivery.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a commercially focused project controls professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to partner effectively with project and operational teams.

• Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, with relevant industry experience highly regarded.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in project controls, project finance, cost control or commercial administration roles.
• Experience supporting major energy, oil & gas, mining or infrastructure projects.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with Power BI experience essential 
• Strong financial analysis, forecasting, reporting and stakeholder management capabilities
