The Opportunity:
NewCold, a pioneer in automated cold storage and logistics solutions, is seeking a Project Director for its Sydney construction. The Project Director will provide strategic guidance to teams and Project Managers in ways that align business change to strategy and promote the company’s culture. They will oversee the progress of projects with regards to implementation and operational readiness and manage the cross-project activities. They will also in conjunction with the Chair of the Steering Committee ensure effective project governance is in place and that transparent and robust reporting of project status is in place.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement engineering solutions to completion across a whole facility.
• Management of high-volume expansions, aligning with complicated software and engineering.
• Lead the Warehouse project delivery process for the APAC region, including budget development, design & planning, construction, commissioning, and implementation.
• Ensure that the Project Schedule, incorporating dates and times for decisions, availability of design information, procurement of materials and subcontracts, lead times for fabrication, and field installation, is established and maintained.
• Ensure that the prescribed quality and financial control measures are implemented and maintained throughout the life of the project.
• Lead and evaluate Project Managers and other indirect staff working on the project.
• Work effectively with regional developers, landlords, and government agencies.
• Establish regional partnerships with Engineers, Consultants, and Contractors.
• Provide clear & frequent projects updates to leaders & internal stakeholders that define project status, schedule, & risks.
• Prioritize incoming project workload across all markets and ensure resources are assigned to lead in the development & execution.
• Manage yearly CAPEX budget, provide accurate & timely reforecasting, and create a multi-year CAPEX plan that aligns with overall regional objectives.
• Leverage NewCold’s global scale & purchasing power to reduce overall costs on goods and services.
• Maintain effective and ongoing communication with all parties, including the dedicated regional team, HQ in the Netherlands, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development of best practice project management standards and project quality control for NewCold global.

Skills and Knowledge:

To be successful in this role you will have: 

• Automation installation experience 
• Implementation of Engineering solutions across whole facilities.
• Financial management and responsibility of $100M+
• Management of large-scale projects that involved extensions then installation.
• Management of key stakeholders
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project management
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar role
