The Opportunity
The Project Lead will lead a two-year workforce and employment initiative while also managing various disability workforce policy, stakeholder engagement, and communication activities. This role is pivotal in driving efforts to strengthen the disability workforce and support sector-wide development at all levels.
Reporting directly to the NSW State Manager, the Project Lead will:
- Lead efforts to attract and retain the disability workforce, focusing on First Nations people, individuals with disabilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse groups. This includes developing strategies for supported and open employment and enhancing the inclusion of people with disabilities in service provider governance.
- Strengthen and promote the BuyAbility website, which helps identify and source Social Enterprises for government and private sectors.
- Work with local disability service providers, health, aged care sectors, and Local Councils to foster cross-sector collaboration.
- Contribute broadly across the organisation in writing news updates, preparing policy papers, facilitating workshops, and providing sector development support.
The Project Lead will operate during a critical period of disability reform in Australia, offering a significant opportunity to impact disability service provision positively. This role, reporting to the NSW State Manager, requires strong subject matter expertise and excellent project management skills to deliver high-quality, timely, and budget-compliant outcomes.
About You
For this appointment, we are seeking a proactive, people-oriented professional with a proven track record in stakeholder management and advocacy, capable of delivering outcomes aligned with organisational strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and experienced in the Disability sector or related fields such as Health, Aged Care, Social Services, other peak bodies, or government agencies.
In addition, the successful candidate will have;
- Understanding of current challenges and opportunities in the Disability sector, particularly related to workforce issues.
- Ability to identify stakeholder needs and develop tailored solutions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A proactive and self-driven personality with a resilient and adaptable nature.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to work across multiple facets.
