Project Manager

Primary purpose of position
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of capital infrastructure projects at the Port of Townsville. Working closely with various stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, and government bodies, the Project Manager will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the highest safety and quality standards. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires exceptional project management skills, strong leadership abilities, and a keen eye for detail.

• Contribute towards effectively developing and managing departmental OPEX and CAPEX budgets and work to continually identify cost saving initiatives.

Essential criteria

Qualifications/tickets/licences:

   

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction/project management, or a related field 


• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification


• Current Queensland C class drivers’ licence


• Ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)

Skills and experience:

• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Project Manager, preferably in delivering capital infrastructure projects in a marine environment.


• Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.


• Experience in stakeholder management and the ability to build effective relationships.


• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.


• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate project teams to achieve project objectives.


• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.


• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.

Software/systems skills:

• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word and Excel)


• Advanced skills in Microsoft Project or other project management software
