Project Manager - Clean Energy

Doosan GridTech has an outstanding 6 month opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our growing Australian team. This position can be based in either Melbourne, Victoria or Canberra, ACT.  

Use your engineering and project management skills to help deliver a next-generation distributed energy resource solution, including energy storage for the electric power system, and see your solutions deployed with real-world customers who are incorporating distributed energy resources into the grid.  

This position is a full time 6 month fixed term contract and requires frequent travel between Melbourne and Canberra (if Melbourne based).  

Candidates must have full Australian working rights to be considered for this opportunity. 

We require strong construction management skills and experience with projects that focus on safety, coordination and quality control of energy system construction. Desired capabilities are a strong plus. Job responsibilities and qualifications follow.

Responsibilities 

  • Manage effective delivery of engineering, procurement and construction for megawatt-scale, grid-connected energy storage projects. 
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s Work Health and Safety management system, industry best standards, and regulatory requirements pertaining to energy storage operations.
  • Lead qualification of requirements of new projects; evaluate against resources and budget. 
  • Lead technical due diligence requirements from developers, lenders, owner’s engineers and lenders. 
  • Control contracts, schedule, budgets and resources required for the delivery of projects. 
  • Provide weekly and monthly report on project progress, forecasting of required funds with all risks and mitigation proposals highlighted, to the Director of Operations to ensure delivery of projects within schedule and budget. 
  • Collaborate with vendors, partners and Doosan GridTech team to deliver solutions to customer problems. 
  • Set up meetings with customers and partners, develop meeting agendas, and drive the meetings. 
  • Efficiently and effectively track issues throughout the like of active projects. 
  • Manage the change order process with customers and vendors. 
  • Work closely with the HSEQ Manager to enforce HSEQ policies and procedures as required, and maintain high quality and safe work standards and protocols in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participate in the investigation of operational, environmental, and safety incidents to determine root cause. Propose corrective, preventive and/or improvement actions and implement these as required.

 Required 

  • A basic knowledge of Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS), and Environmental legislation, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Standards.
  • Relevant project management experience.
  • Experience planning, organising, and coordinating delivery requirements of major infrastructure projects. 
  • Ability to coordinate effective labour resource plans, procurement and delivery of materials to remain close to project forecasts and delivery of services. 
  • Excellent contract knowledge and ability to adhere to obligations under the contract. 
  • Experience operating and implementing work programmes within site, managing sub-consultants, financial management and reporting. 
  • Experience reviewing the standard and progress of subcontractors’ work. 
  • Experience adhering to building legislation and assessing risk/standards of performance. 
  • Experience creating effective and efficient project sign-off processes to ensure projects are finished on time and within budget. 
  • Experience with due diligence of performance of works. 
  • Strong collaborative and teamwork skills, with ability to work with a small, fast-paced team. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Commitment to professionalism with all internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Proactive and innovative approach to problem solving. 
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills. 

Desired 

  • Previous experience as a Project Manager in the renewables or energy industry (ideally with an EPC organisation or Utility) 
  • Experience working with construction of Electrical Transmission & Substation projects 

Qualifications  

Essential

  • A Project Management qualification or certificate (e.g., PMP).

Preferred

  • BA in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field
  • Electrical mechanic/fitter license.
