Project Manager - Migration & Modernisation Programme

Opportunity with One of the Big 4 Banks | 12 Months Contract | Sydney/ MelbourneWe're seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery of a customer transition/migration tool within a large, in-flight modernisation programme for merchant services. You'll take ownership of an existing project and drive it to completion within the contract period, coordinating multiple engineering squads and business streams.
Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of the customer transition/migration tool.
• Build delivery plans, manage scope, requirements, and release coordination.
• Work across technical and business domains to maintain delivery alignment.
• Coordinate engineers across several squads, removing blockers and managing dependencies.
• Ensure traceability between business requirements and technical implementation.
• Manage stakeholder communication across business, product, and engineering.
• Oversee risk, issue, and compliance management in a regulated environment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong Project Management experience delivering technical software projects.
• Experience working with engineers/developers across multiple squads.
• Proven ability to drive outcomes and maintain momentum in complex delivery environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work through ambiguity and partially defined change processes.
• Financial services experience - mandatory.
• Product ownership/product development experience (highly preferred).
• Backend automation or merchant services experience (nice to have).

Technical Literacy (Desirable)

• Understanding of microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with service domains (CTA, onboarding, terminal services).
• Experience with service contracts, versioning, event-driven patterns, async job queues.

Team & Working Model

• Squad of 6 engineers + 1 BA/DA.
• Multiple business streams within the programme.
