We work alongside leading global organisations, government bodies and public institutions, using innovative and sustainable technologies across the transport sector. Just as importantly, we foster a culture where people feel respected, supported and empowered to grow.

About the Project:

UGL Transport is supporting the introduction of NSW's next generation Regional Rail Fleet through the delivery of critical infrastructure upgrades at the Sydenham Maintenance Centre. This high-profile program will modernise maintenance facilities and infrastructure to support the future operation of regional passenger rail services across New South Wales.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a project that will deliver lasting benefits for passengers, communities and the state's transport network.

The Opportunity:

As a Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of critical infrastructure upgrades supporting the next generation Regional Rail Fleet. Working across our Sydney CBD Project Office and the Sydenham Maintenance Centre, you will collaborate with engineering, operational and delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and successfully.

Reporting to the Lead Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing assigned projects from concept development through to delivery as part of a critical rail infrastructure upgrade program.

Working across both office and site environments, you will oversee project planning, design coordination, procurement, stakeholder engagement and delivery activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects through planning, design, procurement and delivery phases.
  • Lead scope, schedule, budget and risk management activities.
  • Coordinate design development through to Approved for Construction (AFC) status.
  • Manage subcontractors, consultants and suppliers to achieve project outcomes.
  • Administer contracts, claims, variations and commercial obligations.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular reporting to stakeholders.
  • Support procurement activities, tender evaluations and supplier engagement.
  • Conduct regular site visits to oversee project progress, manage risks and support delivery teams.
  • Build strong relationships across operations, engineering, commercial and client teams.
  • Drive a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with all HSSE requirements.

About You:

You are a collaborative and solutions-focused Project Manager who enjoys working with diverse stakeholders and delivering successful project outcomes in complex environments.

To be successful you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects across the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience delivering projects within rail, transport, infrastructure, construction, defence, manufacturing or other safety-critical environments.
  • Strong contract administration and subcontractor management experience.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, forecasting and cost control.
  • Experience in project controls, scheduling and risk management.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience using scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project or similar.
  • A Project Management qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma, Degree or equivalent).
  • The ability and willingness to work across both office and operational site environments.

UGL Transport Benefits:

  • The opportunity to contribute to a major NSW rail infrastructure project.
  • Exposure to complex, high-profile project delivery activities.
  • Career development, mentoring and professional growth opportunities.
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Excellent remuneration and employee benefits.
  • The chance to make a genuine difference to Australia's transport network and the communities it serves.

Diversity Matters

At UGL Transport, we know diverse teams deliver better outcomes. We actively encourage applications from women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, veterans, people living with disability, and people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

If you don't meet every requirement but believe your skills, experience and perspective would add value to our team, we'd love to hear from you.
