About the Role

Join our State Commercial Underwriting team in Brisbane and report directly to the Underwriting Manager, Property. You will assess and negotiate new business, renewals and mid-term policy adjustments within your Delegated Underwriting Authority. 

Working closely with Distribution colleagues, you will strengthen intermediary relationships and deliver responsive customer service. Your decisions will support portfolio growth, retention and targeted insurance trading results. You will also collaborate across teams to remove barriers, escalate issues and improve underwriting processes.

What You'll Do

• Underwrite new and renewal business within your Delegated Underwriting Authority, risk appetite and portfolio strategy.
• Review renewals against current selection and pricing guidelines, applying corrective actions where needed.
• Monitor policy performance and identify opportunities for remedial underwriting or improved customer outcomes.
• Build trusted broker relationships and negotiate suitable terms and conditions for customers.
• Identify new business opportunities through broker partnerships, market activity and portfolio insights.
• Collaborate with Distribution and technical teams to resolve issues and improve underwriting processes.

What You'll Bring

• Bring at least three years of experience within the insurance market.
• Apply sound knowledge of commercial insurance products, including Industrial Special Risks.
• Demonstrate experience using underwriting guidelines, approved tools and Delegated Underwriting Authority.
• Understand risk appetite, pricing, reinsurance structures and commercial portfolio considerations.
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes with brokers.
• Contribute positively across teams, sharing market insights and supporting a collaborative culture.
