About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Quality and Innovation Unit provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, programs, models and policies for improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Well-being. The Unit will develop and manage to maturity; enhanced service delivery models in new and expanded functional IUIH services and programs.

About the Role?

This position is responsible for coordinating the delivery of a range of activities to improve access to public healthcare and ensure diagnosis and timely pathways to care for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community within the Southeast Qld Region. 

Day to Day Duties may Include:

  • Work with the IUIH Member Services and clinic teams to provide holistic care to clients and extended family Community members.
  • Provide health education and promotion among community as related to clinical and public health priorities.
  • Contribute to the delivery of community-based activities to promote awareness and uptake of health activities as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of regional protocol(s) as required.
  • Contribute to the coordination and development of tools and resources to support clinical implementation of public health initiatives.
  • Contribute to coordination and delivery of education and training for IUIH Network staff in best-practice approaches to public health initiatives where required.

About You?

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current APHRA registration as a registered nurse
  • Experience in delivery of formal and/or informal training across a broad cross-section of provider types and skill levels.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably including experience working in a primary health care setting
  • Regular travel across IUIH sites is required.

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
