Opal Packaging Plus is an industry-leading packaging and consumables business that has been delivering packaging solutions to Australian businesses for more than 40 years. We have a new opportunity to join our branch in Pemulwuy, NSW as our Purchasing Officer reporting to the Regional Procurement Specialist.

This is a pivotal supply chain role that is fast paced and critical to our success. We are a customer focussed business, and this role is foundational to DIFOT and customer satisfaction. As a trading business our endeavour is to have the right stock at the right time, at the right price.

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

• Performing data-entry activities
• Working with internal and external teams via email (such as internal sales representatives, the customer service team, suppliers and local vendors)
• Communicating with suppliers regarding purchase orders
• Local invoice matching to support the Accounts Payable process
• Monitor supplier performance on ongoing basis (DIFOT) (daily)
• Inventory replenishment and ongoing management for established stock items
• Tactical sourcing and price negotiation for newly identified items
• Vendor & item maintenance for items relevant to the branch
• Support Customer Service with orders/enquiries from phone and email, including order entry

For this role, we expect you will have:

• Previous experience within a purchasing or procurement function
• Experience working with a relevant stakeholders (such as vendors and suppliers)
• Intermediate experience with Excel (functions such as: v-lookup and pivot tables)
• Experience in using ERP systems (such as Winmagi or WMS)
• Solid communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Experience in inventory management
