Salary range – As per the role & Fairwork Award

Work Location – Blacktown, NSW

Reporting Line – Quality Assurance Manager

Job Description

Melco Foods Pty Ltd is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Experienced Quality Control Officer to join our team in Sydney, Australia. As a Quality Control Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our products meet and exceed the highest quality and food safety standards. Your main responsibilities will include conducting daily food safety and quality checks throughout the production process, from receival to dispatching, in line with our established procedures. You will be instrumental in maintaining the compliance of our quality management and food safety systems to the utmost standard.

 

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Conduct daily food safety and quality checks during receival, processing, finished products, storage, and dispatching.
  • Check, monitor and recording temperature checks e.g. Cooking, cooling, refrigeration temperature monitoring, 
  • Perform and check, monitor, document pre-operational checks when required. For this task, your start time may occasionally be 5:45 AM.
  • Conduct swabbing and ATP check during pre-operation checks and also perform operation swabbing. Gather swab samples for external / internal testing
  • Conduct glass and brittle audits and perform bucket walks for loose items.
  • Checking and recording of the daily production sanitation records
  • Collect product/ ingredients/ water/ ice samples for external testing
  • Perform end of product assessment of retention sample and record maintained
  • Perform quality, GMP inspections during production time. And enforce GMP practices and to maintain exceptional standards.
  • Inspect labels during processing and packing to ensure accurate information and correct labelling on products.
  • Take part in internal instrument calibration to ensure accurate measurements e.g. scale calibration, etc.
  • Investigate and resolve non-conformances, including internal and external complaints, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Issue corrective action and preventative action requests when necessary.
  • Communicate out-of-specification results to relevant production Supervisors, maintenance, and QA teams to facilitate corrective action.
  • Participate in internal microbiological and chemical testing, including recording results, as required.
  • Conduct training for staff on GMP, and other food safety and quality topics as per needed.
  • Routinely verify quality records to maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation if required.
  • Act as a backup for the other Quality Control staff when required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for both processes and products.

 

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field.
  • Ideally 3-5 years of relevant experience in food quality control, with a background in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, and GMP.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality.
  • Experience with quality assurance software and tools is a plus.
