R&D Food Technologist - Urgent

Your Opportunity

Buderim Foods is looking for a skilled full-time Food Technologist to join the team and to support our growth and the development of new innovative products at our site in Yandina. 

As a valued team member, reporting to the Operations Manager, you will have a hands-on technical role responsible for the full development of new products through to commercialisation along with product and process improvements.  The role incorporates all technical aspects of a fast-paced innovative food business with scope across many areas of food science. 

Due to the incredible amount of growth, the role will cover NPD, label regulation and design, professional sample creation, and document control.

Role Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Carrying out innovative bench work trials and manage multiple NPD projects simultaneously.
• Beverage/Sauce/Fruit processing NPD experience would be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of retail food standards, FSANZ,  label regulatory compliance and design, NIP development and management from a technical aspect for all new and existing products.
• Creation and management of product specifications and Product Information Forms (PIF’s).
• Strong understanding of food analysis principles ie, Brix, pH, Thermal, Micro, aw, Viscosity etc.   
• Source new ingredients from suppliers, manage supplier technical documentation and technical relationships.
• Communicate with customers on technical aspects of products.
• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to build a strategically aligned NPD pipeline.
• Work effectively with cross functional teams to ensure the successful commercialisation of NPD projects.
• Be hands on to assist in developing suitable Quality Control (QC) testing, and optimising QC methods.

You will have a demonstrated knowledge and experience of:

• Product development background, minimum three years experience
• Formal Qualifications in Food Technology or related science 
• Sound working knowledge of stage-gate process, food laws and regulations
• Quality and document control
• Food technical laboratory environment 
• Administration tasks relating to product management FMCG items.
• Knowledge of branded retail related products.
• Food manufacturing background
• Advanced skills in Microsoft excel and QAD is highly recommended.

The right candidate will be prepared for a hands-on role, be a great communicator with strong food technical skills. You will need to have a minimum of three years product development experience. You will need to have a proactive/hands-on attitude, be a team player, have a sense of urgency and be responsive to both external and internal customers.
