Refrigeration Mechanic

About the role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of refrigeration systems across site.

You’ll be hands-on in maintaining critical infrastructure, while also contributing to system optimisation, energy efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and manage ammonia refrigeration plant systems

• Diagnose faults and perform root cause analysis

• Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance

• Monitor plant performance (pressure, temperature, energy use, alarms)

• Coordinate maintenance activities with electrical, mechanical and automation teams

• Manage contractors and ensure work is completed safely and to standard

• Maintain accurate records, work orders and compliance documentation (MEX or similar)

• Prepare SWMS, JSA and permit-to-work documentation

• Respond to alarms and emergency situations in line with site procedures

• Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost optimisation

About you

You’re a proactive and safety-focused trades professional who enjoys problem solving and working in a collaborative environment.

You will bring:

• Experience with industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia highly regarded)

• Strong background in electrical systems and fault finding

• Experience with maintenance management systems (e.g. MEX)

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and equipment standards

• Strong communication, organisation and time management skills

• A current driver’s licence
