Job Description - Regional Sales Manager

Predictive Recruitment Partners has been engaged by ATOM Supply to find an enthusiastic, results-oriented, and supportive leader to take up the newly created position of Regional Sales Manager in Queensland.

About ATOM:
ATOM is Australia’s fastest-growing industrial and safety products distributor. We see our role as being ‘the team supporting the teams that drive industry in Australia’. Think of us as the people providing industry workers with all their workwear, PPE, tools, and just about ‘every little thing’ they need to get their job done. Then, also think of us as providing their workplace with all the safety, cleaning, and just about ‘every little thing’ it needs to keep their business going.

At the core of why we exist is service, and everyone who works at ATOM abides by our golden principle, which is: “We do the little things for each other so that the little things get done for our customers.” We proudly engage equally with all Australians, and we’re particularly proud of our relationship with Indigenous people, businesses, and communities.

Today, we are 400+ ordinary Australians doing extraordinary things for our customers. Tomorrow, we will need many more. And this is where you come in.

About the role:
To support our growth, the Regional Sales Manager’s role centres around building rapport and relationships, supporting a team of Area Managers and Business Development Managers to grow their share of wallet within their sales territories.  It’s also about driving a consistent, highest-quality service offering for our clients.  This full-time role requires a dynamic, enthusiastic, and persuasive individual who has a strong desire to achieve results, help the team win business, and expand individual capabilities to ensure high performance, retention, and engagement.

It requires a leadership style that is goal oriented, while at the same time focused on motivating, training, and engaging others enthusiastically. The pace of work is faster than average and requires an individual who can manage multiple priorities simultaneously and is adept at recognising and adapting to changing situations.

Regional and interstate travel to branches will see you work with your team in the field on a regular basis.

On a day-to-day basis, the role will see you:

  • Liaising with clients to maintain close and successful business relationships
  • Providing direction and growth opportunities to a team of 7-8 people
  • Helping the team identify growth opportunities through leads, tender and quote submissions
  • Influencing and supporting people to perform at their best
  • Analysing trends and reporting on sales activity
  • Mentoring team members to enable career development within the company
  • Helping to define sales strategies, narrative, and tactics to increase market share and grow share of wallet.

About you:
You probably describe yourself as a driven, confident, enthusiastic, and persuasive individual, with a strong commitment to results and a positive response to pressure. You’re passionate about building relationships and developing your team, yet you’re not afraid to engage in the tough conversations that drive better performance.

You thrive when given the opportunity to use your initiative and take ownership of your role and enjoy taking the lead in an environment that is dynamic and frequently changing.

While you are self-directed and willingly initiate work, you have a collaborative, cooperative style and genuinely want to see others involved in the decision-making process.  You are comfortable taking informed risks and will frequently persuade others to see your point of view to drive revenue and market share.

Accountability is a key driver for you and while you delegate detail work quite readily, you actively take responsibility for following up to ensure tasks are performed within the agreed timeframe and to the expected standard.

Driven by a need to motivate and develop others, you relish having a positive impact on both individuals and teams, pushing them to lift themselves, meet higher expectations, and respond swiftly to changes in the operating environment.  Your team members and peers experience you as a motivating and innovative leader with an insatiable desire to see the organisation you work for, and the people you work with, succeed.

What you bring to the role:

  • Ability to quickly react and adapt to changes in the work environment
  • A desire to develop the people around you and stimulate them to action
  • Natural warmth and a strongly empathetic, engaging communication style that helps you achieve results through people
  • Ability to solve problems swiftly and creatively while handling a variety of activities
  • The desire to get things done quickly without compromising on standards
  • A fluent, lively, and enthusiastic personality
  • Strong follow-through and personal accountability for results.

What we can provide:
On offer is a highly competitive remuneration package including a vehicle allowance, and a quarterly bonus scheme for those who meet mutually agreed targets.  As part of a large national organisation, there is significant opportunity for advancement and career progression.  We encourage autonomy and the use of one’s initiative to solve problems but won’t tolerate you creating a silo with your team.  Our working environment is professional and friendly, and we willingly expend energy to ensure every team member feels highly valued.  As a persuasive, confident, and knowledgeable leader of salespeople, this role offers you the opportunity to work with and through others, as well as challenge and variety, and the scope for both professional and personal development.

What you must have to apply for this role:

  • Minimum 2 years in a people management role
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the MRO sector
  • At least 3 years’ sales experience
  • Full working rights to work in Australia
  • Ability to travel regionally
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Attention to detail around the things that are important
  • Valid Australian drivers licence
  • A clean record (i.e. no criminal record)
  • Sound skills in the Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel.

You will be highly regarded if you also have:

  • Previous experience with Hubspot as a CRM and marketing tool.
