Job Description:

We are seeking highly skilled Anaesthetics/Recovery Nurses to join our healthcare team. In this critical role, you will assist anaesthetists with the administration of anaesthesia and provide expert care to patients throughout the recovery phase following surgical procedures. Your contribution will be essential in ensuring a smooth and safe anaesthesia and recovery process for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Anaesthesia: Collaborate with anaesthetists to administer and monitor anaesthesia during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Monitor Recovery: Provide vigilant care in the recovery room, continuously assessing patients' vital signs, pain levels, and responses to anaesthesia.
  • Manage Post-Operative Care: Implement and manage post-operative care plans, addressing pain management, monitoring for complications, and easing patient recovery.
  • Coordinate with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with surgical teams, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate Patients and Families: Provide clear information to patients and their families about anaesthesia procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care.
  • Maintain Records: Keep accurate and detailed records of anaesthesia administration, patient monitoring, and recovery progress.
  • Adhere to Protocols: Follow hospital policies, protocols, and safety guidelines to keep high standards of care.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Licensure: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in anaesthetics and recovery nursing.
  • Certification: Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is required; additional certification in anaesthetics and recovery nursing is highly desirable.
  • Vaccinations: Up-to-date with annual flu and COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Work Rights: Must have full work rights in Australia.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Clinical Expertise: Ability in assisting with anaesthesia administration and managing patient care during the recovery phase.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to high-pressure situations.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the anaesthesia and recovery process.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with anaesthesia equipment and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of anaesthesia protocols, recovery procedures, and infection control practices.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Experience working in a diverse environment and awareness of cultural considerations in patient care.
