Reliability Engineer

The Role

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for driving asset reliability, asset care maturity, and maintenance excellence across the Rocklea site. The role will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of reliability strategies, asset care systems, and maintenance programs that improve equipment availability, reduce losses, and achieve site Asset Care KPIs. The position will work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to maximise asset performance, reliability, and lifecycle value.

Key Responsibilities

Own and drive site Asset Care KPIs, including:

• Equipment Availability


• OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)


• MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures)


• MTTR (Mean Time To Repair)


• PM Compliance


• Planned Maintenance Percentage (PMP)


• Breakdown Reduction


• Maintenance Cost Performance

• Influence and support cross-functional teams to achieve Asset Care and Reliability objectives.


• Develop and execute the site's asset reliability strategy to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and increase operational efficiency.


• Lead reliability improvement initiatives through data analysis, failure elimination, and continuous improvement programs.


• Facilitate and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for significant equipment failures and ensure sustainable corrective actions are implemented.


• Develop, implement, and optimise preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.


• Drive Asset Care pillar activities within the IWS framework, ensuring effective deployment of Planned Maintenance (PM), Autonomous Maintenance (AM), and Defect Elimination processes.


• Monitor asset health and reliability trends using CMMS, production systems, and reliability tools to identify opportunities for improvement.


• Establish and maintain critical equipment strategies, maintenance standards, and asset management plans.


• Partner with operations teams to improve operator asset ownership and equipment basic care standards.


• Support capital projects and equipment upgrades by ensuring reliability and maintainability principles are incorporated into equipment design and commissioning.


• Develop and maintain reliability dashboards and reporting systems to communicate Asset Care performance and improvement opportunities.


• Ensure compliance with site safety, environmental, and quality standards while driving a proactive safety culture.

About You

• Preferred bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.


• Demonstrated success improving Asset Care KPIs and equipment reliability within a manufacturing environment.


• Strong understanding of reliability-centred maintenance (RCM), failure modes and effects analysis (FMECA), and asset lifecycle management principles.


• Experience managing reliability performance through KPI-driven improvement plans.


• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret maintenance and production data to drive decision making.


• Experience within high-speed FMCG, packaging, beverage, food, or continuous manufacturing environments highly regarded.


• Proficiency with CMMS platforms and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar).


• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is highly desirable.


• Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
