Commercial Lawyer

We are entering an exciting new chapter as a standalone Research and Ratings provider which has resulted in the creation of this new Commercial Lawyer role. 

About The Role:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Commercial Lawyer is a stand-alone legal role, responsible for the provision of sound commercial legal advice for the business to ensure all commercial arrangements promote the best interests of the business while remaining compliant with applicable laws and regulations.  This position will provide legal advice on a range of products and services including new products and services to enable to the business to achieve its growth strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including client, supplier, and service agreements, aligned with business needs.


• Monitor regulatory developments, particularly ASIC requirements, and deliver clear, actionable guidance to ensure ongoing compliance.


• Provide general legal advice on key business areas such as intellectual property, data protection, privacy, marketing, and manage contract disputes and execution.
  

About You:

• Qualified legal practitioner in Australia with 3–8 years of in-house experience within the financial services sector.


• Proven ability to deliver practical, commercially focused legal advice and independently manage legal matters.


• Skilled in supporting internal stakeholders and liaising with external legal teams during negotiations, with sound judgement on when to escalate issues.


• Strong understanding of relevant regulations, particularly ASIC regulations.
  


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to manage internal client relationships and external service providers, including the ability to convey legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.


• Excellent writing, and time management skills, with high attention to detail and strong commercial acumen.
