Commercial Specialist (Projects) | 5:2 | Balcatta Support Centre

Within our Project Team we are currently seeking a Projects Commercial Specialist to oversee day-to-day commercial and contractul activities within the Projects Team, managing both upstream relationships with our clients and downstream interactions with construction contractors across Capital Projects and Minor Works. The role is responsible for executing commercial and contract strategies, selecting the most appropriate contract vehicle for the work program, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders to promote a customer-centric culture. This includes identifying opportunities for standardizing services, improving efficiency, and driving continuous improvement across the business.

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide relevant evaluation and analysis of project and contract requirements to ensure the most efficient contract and commercial delivery option is selected in order to optimise profitability
• Manage commercial activities related to assigned contracts to ensure consistency with contract terms and conditions
• Build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholder group to ensure service delivery expectations are aligned with performance delivered
• Review existing processes and systems are efficient with a view to implementing improvements where identified, in order to ensure the Projects Commercial Team remains on a continuous improvement journey
• Provide guidance and support to project leads and cost controllers to ensure optimal outcomes for escalated issues and disputes
• Provide contract and commercial support during negotiations leading to the finalisation of fit for purpose contracts
• Arrange and chair the quarterly Contract Commercial Meetings with the Capital Projects Contractors
• Manage assigned tender events from start to contract execution, including responsibility and accountability for managing all commercial departures
• Handle internal contract related complaints or disputes from all internal stakeholders
• Prepare and issue contracts for execution
• Conduct contract research and other research as required
• Implement contract strategy in support of business interests when required to support the Project Team annual revenue of approximately $250M

Requirements and  essential experience:  

• 5 years’ experience in contract / commercial management preferred
• Extensive Contract Administration experience
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
• Excellent contract legislation & management
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Ability to analytically review existing systems & processes and look for continuous improvement opportunities
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to achieve optimal outcomes for Sodexo
