As the National Engineering & Sustainability Manager, you will lead and manage the state-based Engineering team, overseeing all refrigeration and engineering project specifications. This includes design, planning and installation applicable to our various programs of work for our BWS and Dan Murphy’s brands. 

A critical part of this role is to identify and adopt efficient, sustainable solutions by staying on top of emerging technologies, market trends and value engineering existing specifications. 

You’ll liaise with multiple internal stakeholders, including Property, Facilities Management, Operations, and Finance, as well as lead our relationships with external refrigeration and engineering partners to improve project briefs, scoping and quality.

Finally, this role will be responsible for developing the sustainability strategic roadmap required to deliver the 'Planet Pillar' targets primarily through our TCO2 and Solar Program.

Here is a taste of what you can expect in this role:

Leadership and Strategy

• Develop and lead the TCO2 and Solar Program to support the company's 'Planet Pillar' targets within the Endeavour Sustainability Strategy.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, management and development for the state-based team of Engineering Specialists.
• Project and program Management.
• Manage and deliver refrigeration projects, including New Stores, Renewals, Case Replacement, and TCO2 Programs. 
• Ensure all refrigeration, electrical and mechanical specifications are up-to-date and align with business needs and our programs are delivered to the latest specifications.
• Scoping, tendering and awarding Endeavour Group engineering projects and managing contractor performance through close liaison with external partners and contractors.

Collaboration and Innovation

• Work collaboratively with external partners in Refrigeration, Energy, and Cost Management to identify market trends and continuously improve engineering and tendering outcomes.
• Support Group Procurement and external partners in developing and executing tendering strategies for engineering assets, with a focus on life-cycle outcomes.
• Work with consultants and Group Procurement to identify and deliver necessary commercial arrangements.
• Interpret data and translate into initiatives that drive continuous improvement.

Data and Compliance

• Develop and maintain the business's energy and greenhouse gas emissions minimisation program by identifying and implementing life-cycle cost optimisation strategies and supporting stakeholder groups across Format Development in the delivery.
• Establish an improved system for recording, collecting, and analysing data to track energy consumption.
• Interpret data to develop initiatives that drive continuous improvement.
• Provide engineering support and compliance advice, ensuring strategies are understood and accepted across the business.
• Provide regular progress reports to stakeholders, outlining the project's status, identifying any issues, and detailing forward planning.

Now let’s talk about you: 

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years of experience and 5 years leading a team 
• Ability to read and understand equipment drawings, specifications and store CAD plans
• Medium to high-level user of Microsoft Office or Google Suite
• Knowledge of the local market, purchasing and supply fundamentals
• Understand retail fundamentals 
• Experience in the Retail environment is an advantage
• Purchasing, Procurement or Sourcing experience
