Play a vital role in enabling sustainable, global supply chains with Global Forwarding, Australia and New Zealand. With ongoing job security, enjoy working in a stable and safe environment, where we can be curious and inspired to try new things as we put customers at the centre of everything we do.  As a recognised global brand with long-term success, we’re passionate about progress. That means adapting to change and transforming how our customers experience world-class freight forwarding solutions. In an open and inclusive culture, we share our ideas with approachable leaders who clearly communicate our ambitions. Our contribution is recognised with flexibility for balance and opportunities to learn, grow and progress. And we’re always looking out for each other’s wellbeing. We take pride in rising to any challenge to deliver what matters. Like thriving on diverse, challenging, even unordinary projects, while being supported by friendly and positive teamwork.

Toll Global Forwarding delivers cargo across our global network via road, rail, sea, and air. From loose cartons for consolidation and palletised cargo to moving dangerous goods and bulk commodities, we have the experience, the infrastructure, and the global network to get freight moving – across towns, across countries and across continents.

About the Role

This is a senior commercial leadership role responsible for end‑to‑end ownership of the ocean product, from rate procurement and pricing through to customer solutions and profitability. Leading the regional ocean freight pricing and services team, you will drive competitive positioning, secure capacity, and translate strategy into scalable, high‑impact outcomes. Acting as the ocean product expert, you will elevate value propositions, support major tenders, and enable growth across the broader business.

As the Ocean Freight Procurement Manager, you will:

  • Define and execute the country‑level ocean pricing and procurement strategy in line with global and regional frameworks.
  • Lead carrier sourcing, contract negotiation and the Core Carrier Program to secure competitive rates, capacity and service continuity.
  • Drive yield and margin improvement through pricing discipline, cost analysis, KPI management and accurate rate administration.
  • Partner with Sales and Projects teams to deliver market insights, customer‑specific solutions and support new business opportunities.
  • Oversee carrier performance, compliance and governance, ensuring adherence to policy, regulation and continuous improvement standards.
  • Act as the regional subject matter expert and escalation point, providing performance reporting and stakeholder advisory at country and regional levels.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in ocean freight forwarding, with deep capability across pricing, procurement and commercial decision‑making.
  • Strong contract negotiation expertise with a proven ability to manage and optimise carrier and vendor relationships.
  • High‑level financial and analytical skills, with a track record of cost control and margin improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and freight management platforms, including CargoWise, with CargoSphere preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of local customs requirements and maritime regulations governing ocean freight operations.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams at country level

What moves you?

At Toll, you can help play a vital role in delivering what matters. From food, fuel, medicine and rescue services, we keep businesses and communities thriving. Every day brings change.
