About the role







We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic lawyer with at least five years of post-admission experience to join an established Disputes and Investigation practice group in the Melbourne office. 







Working with highly experienced paralegals, specialising in Corporate Recoveries, this role will primarily focus on banking and debt recovery, enforcement of mortgage and other securities, insolvency, secured and unsecured asset recovery and loss minimisation. Contributing as an experienced member of the team, you will have the opportunity to advise some of Australia’s largest retail and commercial banking and financial institutions. The role will involve both individual matter work and team collaboration. You will need to use your initiative and will have direct client contact.



 



Responsibilities include:







  • Advice and management of litigation matters

  • Corresponding with clients and other parties

  • Contributing as a member of a team on large matters

  • Preparation of court documents

  • Client relationship management

  • Mediations and court appearances

  • Mentoring junior lawyers and providing support and guidance to paralegals



 

About you







  • 5+ years post admission general litigation experience, with preference given to previous experience in banking litigation and insolvency and mortgage enforcement

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally (written and verbal)

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues and stakeholders

  • Ability to work with and mentor junior lawyers and support staff

  • Demonstrated skillset to manage timeframes and proactively manage priorities within a team

  • Collaborative working style
