Job Description - Reporting Specialist

Eden Ritchie is seeking a Reporting Specialist to play a pivotal role in report automation within a large-scale ICT program within the Department.

The Reporting Specialist will work closely and collaboratively with the project team and relevant staff across the Department. They will support existing relationships with and where appropriate, develop new relationships with a view to ensuring that the implementation of the replacement National Parks Booking System meets departmental needs and client service obligations.

This role is responsible for the development and project implementation of the Power BI reporting automation requirements and its associated deliverables across the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships.

You will report to the Program Director in relation to project requirement and will be supported by a Change Manager, Business Analyst, Project Manager and two Senior Digital Project Officers.

  • 6 month contract with possible extension
  • Brisbane CBD location

As the Reporting Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Work in collaboration with the project team to identify and prioritise reporting requirements to be delivered in relation to the implementation of the National Parks Booking Service replacement system. Then further develop and expand business requirement user stories into functional reports with related acceptance criteria to identify and document all required business rules associated with the development of the solutions within the scope of the project.
  • Translate the needs of the business and all impacted stakeholders to set the direction of the project implementation including Power BI system configuration, report development and automation, data migration and integration with other systems.
  • Liaise and collaborate with QPWS&P Change Management and Communications to ensure change impacts are identified and understood and business readiness is planned and managed (training and co-facilitation or project change activities).
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure business scenarios are covered with the proposed test cases and assist with defect management with the vendor.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other Subject Matter Experts and Senior Users to ensure the project is delivering against the planned activities.
  • Provide the Program Director and Project Manager with an operational view into project outcomes / products to support their decision making and approval of project products.
  • Provide business expertise and work closely with other relevant business stakeholders to understand business drivers, considerations and necessary approvals and support project outcomes.
  • Enabling digital product and service delivery capabilities that meet user expectations, building upon investments to date and incorporating contemporary tools and technologies.
  • Work with business units, project managers and across project teams responsible for IT delivery and services.
  • Provide weekly leadership reports on project progress, achievements, and improvement areas.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated expertise with the implementation of Power BI reporting interface.
  • Ability to make pragmatic decisions under pressure (e.g. time, cost) and work with the uncertainty that is part of project delivery.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement across all levels including negotiation skills and problem solving.
  • High-level written communication including the preparation of complex, sensitive materials.
  • Conveying feedback in a constructive manner to assist the project team in delivering quality products and outcomes.
  • High-level analytical capabilities.
  • Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of innovation, respect and inclusion.
  • Previous experience working for a large IT/ICT organisation or IT Projects (involving significant and/or complex business change elements).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and work across multiple initiatives and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in aspects of systems integration, application ‘look and feel’, development, deployment, and maintenance of applications.

The Reporting Specialist shall also be highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Visio (or similar) and proficient with office automation tools such as Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook (e-mail). You will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and results-oriented person with good interpersonal skills.
