Job Description - Research Fellow (Level A) - Electronics and Signal Processing

Overview:

  • Full-time, Fixed Term position for 1 year  

  • Salary Academic Level A + 17% Superannuation  

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University 

 

About You 
The Research Fellow (Level A) will undertake research activities in line with the University’s research strategy It is expected that the Research Fellow (Level A) will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop. 

 

To be successful in this position, you will have:  

  • Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field

  • Ability to generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.

  • Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as .

  • Demonstrated high level of communication skills.

  • Proven hands-on experience in embedded electronic system design and prototyping, including FPGA/SoC platforms, sensor and actuator interfacing, real-time hardware integration, and use of CAD/CAM and additive manufacturing tools for prototype fabrication and system packaging.

  • Proven expertise in advanced signal processing for electronic and communication systems, including operation under low-SNR, noisy, interfered, or time-varying conditions.

  • Demonstrated experience in robotic platform integration, with the ability to interface electronic, sensing, and communication subsystems to autonomous platforms and support experimental validation, preferably using ROS-based or equivalent workflows.
