The Role
Our Lagoon Street site is situated in the Bega Valley Shire and is the original site of Bega Cheese. Located on the beautiful Sapphire coast, far south coast of NSW, Lagoon Street is still producing Australia's favourite cheese products – cheddar cheese, string cheese as well as butter.
We are seeking an experienced Safety and Environmental Advisor to provide strong influencing & expertise in safety and environmental performance at our Lagoon st site.
As a member of the Site Leadership Team, this high‑impact role influences all site operations, working closely with site and corporate teams to embed Safety and environmental priorities into day‑to‑day decision‑making. This role is critical in protecting brand and consumer trust while driving sustainable site performance beyond a traditional safety and environmental remit.
This role is site based, Full time Monday to Friday during standard operating hours.
Responsibilities
Advise, guide, coach and support site leadership and team members in Bega’s Health & Safety policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. Identify, manage and mitigate safety, health, wellbeing and environmental risks.
Own and continuously improve Safety & Environmental Management Systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, and community requirements.
Lead environmental compliance and regulatory engagement, including reporting and liaison with regulators and local authorities.
Influence site strategy and culture, operating as a key member of the Site Leadership Team to embed a proactive, ownership driven quality and environmental mindset.
Collate, review and analyse Bega’s safety and environmental data to address related site issues and trends.
About you
Diploma or Cert IV in Work Health & Safety with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Cert IV in Environmental Management or previous experience and knowledge in environmental laws, waste and ISO14001 compliance highly regarded
Proven ability to influence & guide senior operational leaders and shape sitewide outcomes
Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
Able to build strong relationships with all staff, from operators up to senior mgmt.
Effective time management, organisation, prioritisation, ability to work well with complex, diverse and changing priorities
