Job Description - Sales Manager, Key Accounts

The major function of this position is:

The Key Account Manager (ANZ) drives profitable growth and strategic development for major national and trans-Tasman retail partners. This role merges senior relationship management with rigorous commercial analysis to optimize assortments, maximize sell-through, and serve as the primary commercial interface between key accounts and internal departments. 

Based: Frenchs Forest

Salary Range: 115k - 130k plus bonus

Primary responsibilities and duties of this position are:

Strategic Sales & Account Management 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business plans and forecasts to achieve revenue, margin, and service targets across the ANZ region. 

  • Lead high-level negotiations, including trading terms, joint business planning, and promotional calendars. 

  • Act as a trusted commercial advisor to senior stakeholders, identifying new opportunities for brand expansion and channel growth. 

  • Represent the business at major industry events and trade shows. 

Commercial Intelligence & Data Analysis 

  • Analyze account performance via customer portals to track shipment trends, sell-through, ROI on promotional spend, and cost of doing business. 

  • Translate market trends and data into actionable recommendations for product assortments, re-orders, and space allocation. 

  • Provide disciplined demand forecasting to support supply chain and inventory management. 

Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Manage store-level assortments and partner with field teams (Brand Ambassadors) to ensure high-quality in-store execution. 

  • Oversee digital excellence by ensuring accurate product content and optimized visibility across customer e-commerce platforms. 

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless product launches and operational efficiency. 

  • Deliver consistent reporting on weekly performance, monthly variances, and quarterly profitability. 

 

Desired Qualifications

As a guide, indicated below is the preferred education and experience for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field.

  • 5–7 years of experience in Key Account Management or Commercial Sales within the retail or consumer goods sectors, specifically managing major Australian or New Zealand accounts. 

Skills preferred for this position:

  • Interstate & Local Travel: minimum 45% combined travel.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a deep understanding of retail math (OTB, margin, ROI, and inventory turn). 

  • Resilience: Maintaining focus and composure during high-pressure ANZ retail cycles

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

  • Strategic Vision: Aligning brand goals with long-term retail partner growth

  • Influencing & Persuasion: Driving internal teams to support account and business needs.

  • Collaborative Leadership: Guiding teams and Brand Ambassadors without direct authority.

  • Self-Motivation: Driving regional revenue targets independently with minimal oversight.

  • Adaptability: Pivoting strategies based on sell-through data and market shifts.
