About the Team

The Scholarships team administers University-funded, government and philanthropic scholarships and grants across Higher Education and TAFE. It manages applications, eligibility assessment, selection panels, offers, payments and student communications, working with Colleges, Advancement and other business areas to deliver fair, accurate and timely support to students.

About the Role

As Scholarships Officer, you will support the accurate and timely administration of University and government-initiated scholarships and grants across Higher Education and TAFE. Working in a collaborative team, you will assess eligibility, maintain accurate records, support selection processes and payments, and communicate professionally with students and stakeholders. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to student access, experience and retention.

Position Key Duties 

• Administer University and government-initiated scholarships, grants and prizes, including merit- and equity-based programs.
• Assess applications and verify eligibility and supporting information accurately and consistently.
• Maintain scholarship applications, transactions and student records in relevant University systems and databases.
• Support scholarship selection processes and panels, including coordination, documentation and meeting administration.
• Process and track scholarship and grant payments accurately and within agreed timeframes.
• Communicate application and payment outcomes clearly and professionally to students, staff and external stakeholders.
• Work with academic and professional staff to deliver fair, consistent and timely scholarship outcomes.
• Contribute to service-level targets, compliance requirements and continuous improvement of scholarship processes and procedures.

 Position Details 

• Classification: HEP 5.1
• Salary: $51.59/hour  
• Employment Type: Casual
• Estimated Hours per Week: 15 hours (2 days)
• Location: Footscray Park (hybrid)

About You

• A relevant degree or diploma, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.
• Experience administering scholarships, grants, financial assistance or comparable high-volume assessment processes.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and process eligibility decisions and payments on time.
• Well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with a professional and student-focused approach.
• The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and learn University systems quickly.
