School Based Apprentice

A school based apprenticeship (SBAT) combines school, paid work and study of a qualification during a student’s HSC years. The certificate the apprentice works towards as part of their position is a nationally recognised qualification.

CSD offers School Based Apprenticeships in either our Fabrication or Electrical areas.

School based apprenticeships and traineeships are available to Year 10 students, to complete in Year 11 and 12.

Once the student has completed their HSC, there may be an opportunity for select motivated and competent students to  continue their apprenticeship as a 2nd year and commence full time employment with CSD. 

In order to successfully complete a school based apprenticeship or traineeship, students must complete a minimum number of days of paid employment. 

Successful applicants will:

• Attend school and be motivated to undertake all studies towards the attainment of their HSC;
  


• Have reliable transport to and from the Wee Waa 'Shenstone' site for work days during school terms and the school break;


• Have a supportive parent / guardian who is able to accompany you to your TAFE block weeks in Tamworth;


• Have the ability to work with a team, follow directions and keep safety as a focus; and


• Commitment and enthusiasm with a genuine interest in a career in your selected trade.
