Senior Advisor Government Affairs

About the Role

As a Senior Government Affairs Advisor, you will support Suncorp's engagement with federal, state and local government stakeholders. Working within Risk & Advocacy, you will provide strategic advice to senior leaders, contribute to the Group's government relations strategy and build meaningful relationships that support positive policy outcomes. This is an opportunity to contribute to issues that matter while strengthening your expertise in government affairs, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

What You'll Do

• Develop and support the delivery of government relations strategies that align with Suncorp's business priorities and long-term objectives
• Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers across federal, state and local government to strengthen engagement opportunities
• Provide strategic and practical advice to senior executives on government engagement, stakeholder positioning and emerging policy issues
• Collaborate across the broader business to support advocacy campaigns, communications and stakeholder initiatives
• Monitor political, regulatory and industry developments, providing insights that help inform business decisions and engagement strategies
• Foster trusted partnerships across the organisation to deliver outcomes that support customers, communities and business performance

What You'll Bring

• Experience in government relations within a major corporation, industry association, government department or related environment
• Strong understanding of political, regulatory and public policy processes, ideally within financial services or a highly regulated industry
• Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, building credibility and productive long-term relationships
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences and stakeholder groups
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the market, regulatory and business factors that influence organisational outcomes
• A collaborative approach, supported by strong negotiation, stakeholder management and problem-solving capabilities
