The Justice Reform Office (JRO) is a new, permanent office tasked with leading reform of Queensland's criminal justice system. The JRO develops, tests and implements initiatives to reform the criminal justice system.
Our work is based on evidence and focuses on new approaches to:
• reduce demand on courts and prisons
• modernise Queensland's laws
• improve programs to divert people away from the criminal justice system
• help people to break the cycle of reoffending.
We also provide support to the Independent Ministerial Advisory Council (IMAC).
The IMAC was created to provide government with advice, guidance and the perspective of victims on how we can reform the criminal justice system and provide support for victims, particularly in relation to youth crime.
Your key responsibilities:
• Reporting to the Manager, Secretariat, you will be responsible for providing high level secretariat support and policy advice to the IMAC and other governmental and ministerial committees as required.
• You will liaise with key stakeholders to ensure the timely scheduling of committee meetings and distribution of agenda papers, including out of session papers.
• You will provide clear, accurate and timely policy advice to committee members and senior departmental officers.
• You will prepare agendas, papers, meeting minutes, action registers and Ministerial and senior officer briefing packs.
• You will co-ordinate with Departmental subject matter experts and provide assistance with briefings on agenda papers, including the preparation of Chair speaking notes.
• You will prepare authoritative reports, documents, presentations, executive briefs and correspondence as required.
