Are you ready to take the next step in your career with Port Waratah? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Rehabilitation & Approvals Advisor
to join the team at our world-leading material handling facilities in the heart of Newcastle.

In this newly created role, you will lead the closure planning and environmental approvals requirements for the rehabilitation of our non-operational licenced waste facilities and the Carrington terminal (due for lease renewal in 2031). To support these two projects, you will advise on closure planning, contaminated lands management, ensuring compliance with adopted closure planning principles, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you'll also scope and navigate the complex process of securing environmental approvals for the two closure and rehabilitation projects. Your responsibilities will extend to managing project risks, creating and updating procedures, and management plans to support with project deliverables and uphold our commitment to environmental sustainability. This role will work closely with a newly created Rehabilitation Project Manager role in delivering project objectives.

To be successful in this new role you will bring experience in closure planning and rehabilitation, in addition to scoping and developing environmental approvals. You will possess a strong understanding of planning regulatory requirements combined with effective problem solving and time management skills. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills will also ensure your success. Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Science or similar is essential, with experience in heavy industry advantages.
