Job Description - Senior Aircrew Officer , Queensland Police Service

APPLY NOW!! Join the Aviation Capability Group (ACG) and take advantage of 12.75% superannuation and $17,000 salary sacrifice entitlement for QGAir Rotary Wing Employees. Additional allowances that may also be applicable to the role include:

• Check and Training – Crew Officer - 8.5% of an Aircrew Officer paypoint 6 salary – approximately $9,910 p.a.
• Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Allowance - $3,442.40 per annum
• Fitness Level 1 – Crew Officer – 2% of an Aircrew Officer paypoint 6 salary – approximately $2,332 p.a. 

You will also be required to undertake Aircrew duties as required and assist the Base Manager ensuring the efficiency of base operations, performing their administrative duties in their absence.

Permanent position based in Archerfield.

Key Accountabilities 

• Supervise Aircrew Officers and Rescue Crew Officers and manage humanresource issues, such as leave.
• Coordinate rostering of crew and undertake rostered Aircrew duties as required.
• Ensure accurate records are maintained of crew's flight, duty time and recall.
• Assist the Chief Aircrew Officer with ensuring records of crew currency and recency in all operational roles and coordinate training and currency requirements in accordance with the Operations Manual.
• Assist the Base Manager to ensure the base is operationally and administratively efficient and perform their administrative duties in their absence.
• Carry out all duties and training as specified in the Helicopter Rescue Operations Manual and ensure a high standard of aircraft presentation.

Mandatory requirements:

• Possession of C Class Drivers Licence.
• Have held Bronze Medallion Life Saving Qualification, Certificate II in Public Safety, Current Senior First Aid, Current Advanced Resuscitation
• 1500 hours rotary wing aeronautical experience as an Aircrew Officer
• Competence in Helicopter winching and rappelling operations
• CASA approval as a Rotary Wing Night Vision Goggle Aircrew Member Instructor within six months of appointment.
• Current CASA Aviation Class Medical Certificate
• CASA approval as an Aircrew Training Officer within six months of appointment
• Certificate IV in Aviation Aircrew Officer.
• Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment within six months of appointment.

Special Conditions 

• Instructor experience boat operations, life raft deployment.
• Applicants must pass the Aircrew Physical Fitness test comprising of:
1. 400m swim in under 10 minutes; and either of the following options
2. Completion of the Rockport Fitness Walk Test (1.6km walk) with the minimum standard being a ‘Good' assessment on the Rockport calculator ( ( )); or
Completion of a 2.4km run with the minimum standard being a 'Good' assessment on the ExRx.net Distance Run calculator ( ( ))

The two tests must be completed within a four-hour period.

Prior to appointment, the successful applicant will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability to perform the inherent occupational requirements of the role.

In compliance with CASA Drug & Alcohol Management Plan requirements, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in the QGAir Drug & Alcohol Management Program.

A probation period of 6-months applies.
