In Financial Services, we support the Group's strategy of building tomorrow's bank today for our customers, through a focus on three key priorities of trust, resilience and capital generation. Financial Services partner with all areas of CommBank to provide specialist advice, support and services in finance, audit, treasury, property, procurement, climate strategy and investor relations.

Technology Finance is responsible for the provision of financial control and management services to the Technology business unit. We work closely with our stakeholders to help them understand their technology costs and deliver current and future strategic and financial plans. In Technology Finance we support the technology function to deliver on its strategic priorities, including an organisation with delivery primacy, modern and future-ready technology and data, leadership in Agentic and GenAI at scale, and best-in-class security, resilience and reliability.

Do work that matters

This role reports directly to the Senior Finance Manager in Technology Finance. Your role will support the Data Centre & Specialised Compute, Database, Platform Hosting, and Storage & Data Protection crews within the Chief Technology Office (CTO).

You will partner with stakeholders and provide financial analysis and support to enable effective decision-making. Key areas of focus include:
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement across Technology and Finance, including Crew Tech Leads (Technology) and Senior Managers (Finance)
  • Supporting month end activities, including preparation and review of journals, P&L analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation, in partnership with the CoE team
  • Assisting in the preparation, presentation and ongoing monitoring of annual budgets and rolling forecasts, in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement, standardisation and simplification

You will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager and the Business Partnering Managers, supporting a broad range of financial activities across the team, including:
  • Preparing and delivering month end outputs, including journals, P&L analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation in partnership with the CoE team
  • Supporting the end-to-end budgeting and forecasting process, including data collation, validation, and tracking of outcomes
  • Producing regular reporting packs and ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial information
  • Supporting stakeholder queries through provision of timely and accurate financial data
  • Performing ad-hoc analysis to support business and finance requirements
  • Assisting with contract reviews and appropriate accounting treatment
  • Supporting financial control activities, including balance sheet integrity and governance requirements
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across reporting, processes, and systems

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across Technology and Finance
  • Sound accounting knowledge and financial analysis capability
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and highlight key drivers
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills to support financial analysis and reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and contribute to process improvement
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience supporting a technology or complex cost environment is desirable but not essential
  • Progress towards or completion of a CPA or CA qualification
