About the role


AEMO's Energy Market Cyber Coordination (EMCC) team leads programs which strengthen cyber resilience across the energy sector, coordinate cyber incident response for incidents which may impact the secure and reliable operation of Australia's electricity and gas systems and markets, analyse emerging cyber risks and promote a shared understanding of the threat environment. To support this responsibility, AEMO develops and delivers cyber security exercises that test, validate and improve the preparedness of industry, government and internal stakeholders.


 


As a Senior Analyst – Energy Market Cyber Exercises, you will support the design, delivery and continuous improvement of AEMO's cyber exercise program. You will develop exercise content, coordinate stakeholders, facilitate activities, evaluate outcomes and manage findings to improve cyber preparedness across AEMO and the broader energy sector. This role combines cyber security, incident response, exercise delivery and stakeholder engagement to strengthen the sector's ability to respond to and recover from cyber incidents.


 


This is a 24-month Fixed Term Contract and its location is flexible.


 


Please note that to be eligible for this role you require Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a national security clearance. 


 


What you will be doing



  • Support the design, planning, delivery and reporting of AEMO's cyber incident response exercise program.

  • Lead the delivery of cyber incident response exercises and exercise workstreams, including the planning and delivery of sector, national and international tabletop, functional or live-fire exercises.

  • Coordinate stakeholder participation in cyber incident response exercises across industry, government and AEMO.

  • Develop exercise scenarios, reports and other exercise artefacts, including the analysis of exercise outcomes and recommendations to support continuous improvement.

  • Document, consult, track and support the completion of post-exercise improvement actions and activities.


 


 


What you will bring to the role



  • Tertiary or post graduate qualifications in IT, cyber security or related fields, and experience in the energy sector, or other critical infrastructure organisations, preferably supporting cyber security or resilience.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting or delivering cyber incident response exercises, including tabletop, functional or live-fire exercises, and is capable of analysing exercise outcomes, identifying lessons learned and supporting continuous improvement activities.

  • Demonstrated understanding of cyber incident response, crisis management, business continuity, or operational resilience practices.

  • Knowledge of contemporary cyber threats, adversary techniques, defensive cyber security operations and incident response frameworks.

  • Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to engage effectively with industry, government and executive stakeholders.
