The Opportunity

This is a broad and impactful role within our Enterprise Risk team, sitting in the second line of defence (Line 2). You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure our risk frameworks, policies and governance arrangements remain effective, aligned, and fit for purpose — supporting decision-making at the highest levels, including Executive and Board committees. 

A key focus of the role will be helping the organisation navigate the safe, ethical and transparent use of AI, embedding practical governance into rapidly emerging technology. 

You’ll be equally comfortable operating at a strategic level, shaping frameworks and policy, and at a hands-on level — reviewing, challenging and improving governance practices across the organisation. 

What you’ll be doing 

• Strengthening and maintaining key risk frameworks, policies and governance artefacts, ensuring alignment with the Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement 

• Leading and supporting policy and governance reviews, including across AI, climate and responsible investment 

• Providing independent Line 2 review and constructive challenge on governance, policy implementation and key initiatives 

• Delivering high-quality risk reporting and insights to executive and Board forums, including emerging risk themes 

• Supporting and enhancing the organisation’s GRC systems, risk registers and reporting processes 

• Partnering with stakeholders across technology, data, legal, procurement and business teams to embed consistent governance practices 

• Contributing to risk culture uplift, including training, communications and awareness initiatives 

• Supporting the organisation’s approach to AI and emerging technology governance, ensuring alignment with evolving expectations and regulatory direction 

About You

• Experience in risk management and governance, ideally within financial services, investment or a complex, regulated environment 

• Strong capability in Line 2 oversight, including independent review and constructive challenge 

• Exposure to AI risk, technology risk, data governance, cyber, or privacy, with an interest in how governance enables safe innovation 

• Ability to translate risk concepts into practical controls, frameworks and governance processes 

• Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing across a broad organisation 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, insight-led reporting 

• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and governance uplift
