This role will initially cover a period of parental leave, with potential for further extension.

Infrastructure investment and construction activity continues at an unprecedented level across the country – including to meet growing demands for renewable energy and social outcomes. The CI&P group is expanding in response to those challenges.

The team advises in relation to all aspects of construction, infrastructure and projects for both private and public sector clients. We support our clients through the entire project lifecycle to manage risk and deliver great outcomes. We act for principals, sponsors, contractors, suppliers and developers.

The roleWorking closely with our three highly recognised partners in the Brisbane office, Troy Lewis, Stephen Burton and Kirsty Smith, as well as the opportunity to work with the broader national team, you will provide support on transactions as well as running matters autonomously. The role provides a client and project focus and the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of work in all aspects of construction, infrastructure services and operations, and projects.

In addition, at this level of seniority, you will have experience in and a desire to work closely with less experienced lawyers in the team, with a focus on professional development, supervision and guidance.

Whilst the role has a strong front-end focus, the ability and willingness to work on issues and disputes as and when required will be highly regarded.
You will have access to support and supervision from a high-performing large team of lawyers at the special counsel, senior associate, associate, lawyer, graduate and undergraduate levels who are an integral part of what we do. Your clients will include major institutions, government, developers, multi-national engineering companies and the largest head contractors in the country.

Your skills and experienceIdeally, you will be 6 or more years PQE level and possess a genuine passion for contracts and transactional construction, infrastructure and project work, with exposure to clients in both the public and private sector.

Your knowledge and proven experience in front-end construction or other significant commercial contract or procurement disciplines, together with your demonstrated expertise in documenting and advising on complex projects will be crucial to your success in this role.
