Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have a choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Designing and developing scalable backend solutions to support Canva’s global marketing engine.

• Collaborating closely with marketers and data teams to unlock automation, analytics, and optimisation capabilities.

• Maintaining and evolving systems that drive Canva’s communications, growth and audience engagement.

• Partnering with engineers across teams to build integrations between Canva’s core product and marketing platforms.

• Contributing to best practices around code quality, testing, and continuous improvement.

• Mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical discussions to shape strategic direction.

About the team

As a backend engineer in the Marketing Technology team, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to build and expand Canva’s marketing systems. Your role will revolve around designing, creating and maintaining new features that enable our marketing team to do more with less.

Our team operates at the intersection of multiple domains – from data and infrastructure to experimentation and user engagement. Constant collaboration with other Canva teams is part of the job, giving you a fantastic opportunity to learn, influence and connect the dots across projects.
