Description

As a Senior Claims Adjuster - Financial Lines, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of a portfolio of Financial Lines claims, with a primary focus on Professional Indemnity, complemented by exposure to Directors & Officers (D&O), Financial Institutions (FI), and Transaction Liability risks.

You will operate as a technical expert within the Claims team, managing complex, high-value and sensitive claims, while driving proactive claims strategies, consistent reserving and high-quality outcomes aligned with policy intent and regulatory requirements.

The role also requires close collaboration with regional stakeholders, including providing support and technical input into Singapore-based Financial Lines claims where required, ensuring consistency in approach and alignment with Canopius' broader APAC claims strategy.

A key component of the role is the oversight and management of Delegated Claims Authorities (DCAs), TPAs and external service providers, ensuring strong governance, performance management and delivery of service excellence.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of Financial Lines claims (primarily Professional Indemnity, with exposure to D&O, FI and Transaction Liability) from notification through to resolution
  • Act as a technical expert in Professional Indemnity claims, including complex, litigated and high-value matters
  • Develop and execute clear claims strategies across multiple Financial Lines products, including liability, quantum and resolution pathways
  • Ensure accurate, timely and consistent reserving across the portfolio in line with internal and external reporting requirements
  • Provide technical support and collaboration on Financial Lines claims across the APAC region, including Singapore, ensuring alignment in claims approach and strategy
  • Act as a referral point for complex Financial Lines claims, providing guidance to internal stakeholders on coverage, strategy and reserving
  • Oversee and manage DCAs, TPAs and external service providers, ensuring compliance with delegated authority, service standards and governance frameworks
  • Conduct technical claims reviews and audits of delegated partners, identifying trends, risks and improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with underwriting to provide insights on claims trends, policy wordings and emerging risks across Financial Lines products
  • Engage with brokers, insureds and legal representatives to drive strong commercial outcomes and maintain market relationships
  • Contribute to large loss and complex claims management across the Financial Lines portfolio
  • Analyse claims data to provide meaningful insights that support underwriting performance and portfolio strategy
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across claims processes, governance and operational efficiency
  • Support business development and retention by demonstrating claims capability and acting as a trusted market-facing representative of Canopius

  • Broader experience across Financial Lines products (e.g. D&O, Financial Institutions, Transaction Liability) is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex and litigated claims
  • Strong understanding of Financial Lines policy wordings and coverage interpretation
  • Experience working with or managing Delegated Claims Authorities (DCAs) and/or TPAs
  • Experience operating within a Lloyd's or delegated authority environment (desirable)
  • Strong understanding of the Australian regulatory environment and claims handling obligations
  • Proven ability to operate at a senior level, providing technical guidance and influencing stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer outcomes and financial discipline
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
