Senior Commercial Government Lawyer (EL1) - Urgent Hiring

Allygroup is seeking senior commercial lawyers to support the Commercial, Employment and Information Law Branch within a large and high-performing Commonwealth Government Department. 

This is an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable experience working collaboratively with technically skilled, like-minded people supporting multi-disciplinary teams.

The Commercial Law team advises on a wide range of procurements and contracts, including high risk and high value contracts for services and assets, leases, licences, construction activities, grants, and international agreements. The team also advises on commercial law disputes and litigation matters. The team operates in a fast paced environment, and requires 1-2 lawyers to assist with this busy practice.

Part-time/flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate. This is a contract secondment opportunity.  

What we need

1-2 lawyers for secondment to the Commercial Law team from June 2024 to 30 June 2025.  The lawyer must have 2-5 years (or higher) post admission legal experience, including commercial law experience at a senior level. The secondee lawyer would work under the direction and supervision of the Branch’s Directors and Senior Legal Officers, and across a wide range of commercial matters.
 

Must be

• Admitted as a legal practitioner of the High Court or a Supreme Court of a State or Territory;
• Have and maintain at least a current restricted practising certificate with the Law Society of the Australian Capital Territory or other Australian State or Territory; and
• Provide legal services efficiently and to a high professional standard.
