Job Description - Senior Communications Advisor


Senior Communications Advisor



  • $137,963.00 per annum + superannuation

  • Full time, fixed term (until 30/06/2027)

  • Geelong based role (hybrid work from home – 3 days in office)


 


 


About the opportunity


WorkSafe’s Strategic Communications team works with the organisation’s business units and executive leadership to plan and execute communications that support strategic objectives and change.


 


This position will play an integral role in directly supporting the communications and engagement needs of the Claim System Modernisation Initiative (CSMI), a key program within WorkSafe’s Return to Work Victoria (RTWV) business unit.


 


The role operates within a matrix environment and has defined responsibilities and deliverables, working closely with the CSMI Senior Manager, Engagement and Implementation.


 


 


Key Accountabilities:


 



  • Provide expert internal and external communications advice supporting the CSMI program, helping them to promote their objectives, and manage change.

  • Collaborate with the CSMI program to plan, develop and deliver an overarching communications and engagement approach, with an emphasis on leadership alignment, internally and externally.

  • Develop communications material and content in a range of digital and non-digital formats.

  • Work across divisions to ensure project-focussed communications align and integrate into WorkSafe’s broader internal and external communications strategies.

  • Identify and manage reputational issues, risks and opportunities, providing expert communications advice to leaders, the Communications division and across the business.

About you


 


Your strong written communication skills and the ability to present issues and messages clearly to a range of audience is key to the success of this position.


Amongst your key strengths is your ability to build effective working relationships, with highly developed influencing and negotiation skills.


In addition you will possess the following skills and experience:



  • Experience planning and executing end to end strategic communications and engagement plans to support complex projects and the implementation of change, whilst managing reactive communications requests

  • Ability to think strategically and synthesise material and issues to develop a clear narrative, key messages and persuasive presentations for senior executives

  • Significant, demonstrated experience in a similar role in a complex and fast-paced strategic environment

  • Strong ability to plan and manage workflow with excellent attention to detail

  • Experience in internal change communications highly regarded


 


 


 


Qualifications


 



  • Tertiary qualification in PR, Communications, Journalism (or related field) and a minimum of five years’ related experience required.
