Job Description - Senior Communications Manager

As we continue to scale, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Communications Manager to join our global comms team and help us share the SafetyCulture story. Reporting to the Head of Communications, this is a diverse, hands-on role with endless opportunities to own projects and have a real impact.

This is the perfect role for someone who loves media relations and has the ability to rapidly switch gears between corporate communications and brand storytelling.

For our global comms team, there’s no such thing as a ‘typical day’. However, these are some of the things you’ll be working on:
  • Crafting corporate and consumer communications strategies informed by data, trends and insights that accurately reflect brand messaging, deliver cut through and resonate in a variety of countries and industries
  • Developing robust communications toolkits and assets for diverse audiences, teams and markets
  • Helping to maximise key company milestones via effective media relations
  • Amplifying a variety of campaigns, product launches and brand partnerships via effective media relations
  • Developing proactive sector-specific earned media campaigns
  • Helping to communicate the value of SafetyCulture for businesses by generating coverage that explains the benefits of our product and the problems that we can help solve
  • Supporting senior leadership with public speaking opportunities, including message preparation
  • Driving high performance of PR agency partners and freelancers
  • Building strong relationships with media, stakeholders and influencers
  • Owning and driving timely strategic responses to inbound media queries, correcting inaccuracies where appropriate and rallying internal stakeholders
  • Developing and writing compelling media releases, Q&As, statements, quotes, op-eds and more
What do I need?
  • 7+ years of blended corporate and consumer communications experience
  • Robust experience leading global communications teams (in-house or agency)
  • Strong relationships with mainstream business, tech and news reporters in Australia (and an understanding of the workings of media in the US and Europe)
  • Experience in project management, with the ability to organise stakeholders and work collaboratively to deliver quality work to a deadline, on budget and exceed KPIs
  • Able to work independently and proactively with the ability to be ever-ready and get hands-on with execution
  • Strong writing, editing, messaging skills, and an eye for detail
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • A strategic and creative thinker with a strong grasp of cultural and technology trends'
  • High levels of initiative and the ability to identify opportunities for impact
Nice to have:
  • Experience in a fast-paced PR agency or startup environment, ideally working with technology brands
  • Previous experience managing and clearly articulating complex/emerging products
  • Experience executing global PR campaigns in Australia, the US and Europe
  • Crisis and issues management experience
