Senior Consultant Data Engineer | Melbourne

We’re looking for a
Senior Data Engineer who combines strong technical foundations with the confidence to work directly with clients and help turn complex requirements into practical, scalable solutions.

This is a hands-on consulting role for someone who wants to stay close to the technology while taking greater ownership across delivery, client engagement and solution design. You’ll work across modern data and analytics projects, contribute throughout the full delivery lifecycle, and build experience across a range of platforms, industries and client environments.

What you’ll do

You’ll work alongside clients and Altis teams to understand business challenges, shape the right technical approach and deliver high-quality data and analytics solutions.

You’ll:

• Deliver Data & Analytics solutions from discovery and requirements through to implementation and support


• Work directly with clients to understand business needs and translate them into practical technical solutions


• Contribute to workshops, solution design sessions and technical reviews


• Design and build data pipelines, data models, database structures and data stores


• Integrate and analyse data from multiple sources to support reporting, analytics and decision-making


• Develop reports, dashboards, visualisations and actionable insights


• Apply strong SQL, data modelling and engineering practices across client projects


• Support testing, deployment, User Acceptance Testing and post-production activities


• Contribute to project planning, estimation and delivery scheduling


• Take ownership of your work while supporting and sharing knowledge with others


• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders


• Help clients successfully adopt the solutions we deliver through training and knowledge transfer
  
  

The experience you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone with strong Data & Analytics foundations, hands-on delivery experience, and the confidence to contribute meaningfully in a client environment.

Your experience may include:

• Data & Analytics solution delivery


• Strong SQL capability


• Data modelling and database design


• Data integration and modern ETL/ELT approaches


• Data pipeline development


• Experience with cloud technologies, such as Snowflake, Databricks and/or Google Cloud


• Reporting, analytics and visualisation solutions


• Translating business requirements into technical solutions


• Working directly with clients or business stakeholders


• Testing, implementation and production support
