We are looking for a technically experienced contaminated lands consultant to join our growing environment and waste national team. The role may be based in our Adelaide or Sydney office. As a senior team member, you will act as a project lead for key programs of work and support the discipline principal in developing technical and commercial proposals for our valued clients.

As a part of this role, you will be:

  • Scoping and costing work through the development of proposals as required.
  • Coordinating field programs including premobilisation and safety planning.
  • Developing Sampling and Analysis Quality Plans.
  • Project leading a variety of large and small fieldwork campaigns including soil, groundwater, surface water and soil vapour investigations.
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to graduate and junior team members.
  • Providing high quality analysis and constructive review of junior team members reporting to ASC NEPM requirements.
  • Developing reports to exceptional technical and editorial standard and working collaboratively with the team to meet client expectations.

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • Degree in a relevant science discipline (geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, soil science) or environmental engineering.
  • Previous consulting experience (6+ years) within the contaminated land field (additional experience in environmental management or impact assessment will be highly regarded).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Be adept at building and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, project teams, disciplines, and business units
  • Exceptional project management and collaboration skills
  • Experience in management of subcontractors and client expectations
  • A passion to train and mentor junior staff
  • Experience in data management software (ESDAT) and preparation of environmental reports
  • Experience in working with and a knowledge of other state legislation and guidelines will be advantageous.
  • Experience in scoping and managing projects from small PSI’s through to large scale DSIs and remediation projects.
  • Experience in sampling and assessing all media including soil vapour.
  • Full Drivers License issued by an Australian state or territory
  • Authorisation to work full-time in Australia

Job location:

This role can be based at either of Tonkin's state-of-the-art head offices in Adelaide's CBD or Sydney CBD, flexible/work-from-home arrangements may also be possible.
