Job Description - Senior Content Specialist

Description

The Local Project is one of the fastest-growing premium architecture and design media businesses, operating across Australia, New Zealand and North America. We celebrate extraordinary local design and its global impact through editorial, digital, video and documentary content, reaching over 100 million impressions per month. In 2024 we expanded with The Local Production, a full-service creative agency dedicated to elevating brands through strategic storytelling and high-end content creation.

We are recognised by the industry for our craft. In 2025 we were awarded Publication of the Year, Publishing Company of the Year, Publish Leader of the Year, and Special Edition of the Year at the Mumbrella Publish Awards.

The Role

The Senior Content Specialist leads the execution, quality control, and workflow optimisation across digital content for client and owned channels - ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery while supporting team performance and operational efficiency.

Core Responsibilities Include:

Content & Quality Control

  • Oversee end-to-end execution of digital content across all platforms for client and owned channels, reviewing and approving content to ensure accuracy, consistency, brand alignment, and quality control across visuals, captions, scheduling, tags, and campaign deliverables.

Paid Strategy & Creative Direction

  • Execute paid strategy across brand and performance across Meta (Instagram and Facebook), Google, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and emerging channels as relevant, driving creative briefing for paid campaigns and working with in-house teams to develop ad creative that meets the TLP brand standard.
  • Lead audience strategy, segmentation, retargeting, and lookalike modelling.

Leadership & Workflow

  • Support and mentor Digital/Content Coordinators, guiding best practices and workflow adherence, acting as a key escalation point for complex publishing, delivery, and client requirements, while identifying workflow inefficiencies and implementing process improvements to enhance team output.
  • Ensure content aligns with campaign objectives, timelines, and overall digital strategy, collaborating closely with the Digital/Content Manager to manage capacity, priorities, and delivery.
  • Support reporting and performance analysis, providing insights to optimise content and campaigns.

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years’ experience in digital publishing, digital marketing or audience development roles.
  • Confident with analytics and translating insights into recommendations.
  • Previous experience executing paid media and advertising strategies.
  • A strong sense of what makes great content succeed across platforms.
  • Collaborative and communicative – you enjoy working with editors, designers, and marketers alike.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a passion for improvement and experimentation.
  • An interest in architecture, design, and premium publishing is a bonus.
