Senior Data Centre Optimisation Manager

What You’ll Do 

• Lead data centre exits across Clayton, Pitt St, Broadway and DigiCo Level 1, covering business‑critical and non-critical applications and infrastructure 

• Deliver multi‑year DC and Fixed Network Site (FNS) divestment programs, including room exits, migrations, relocations, decommissioning and virtualisation 

• Own group‑level, high‑risk projects with material financial exposure linked to data centre exit deadlines 

• Provide hands‑on leadership to project teams, consultants and contractors, driving outcomes end‑to‑end 

• Anticipate, troubleshoot and resolve data centre issues with potential customer or network impact 

• Partner with Wireless and Cloud programs on capacity planning, cyber security and infrastructure rationalisation 

• Protect Telstra IP, reducing delivery risk and ensuring continuity across strategic initiatives 

• Align delivery with Telstra’s CF30 digital infrastructure strategy 

• Build strong relationships across architects, engineers, contractors, authorities and internal teams 

• Mentor and uplift capability across the team to support future workforce needs 

About You 

You’re a seasoned data centre leader with deep Telstra knowledge and the confidence to lead complex, high‑stakes programs end‑to‑end. You bring: 

• NV2 security clearance, enabling you to support defence‑related projects across the business 

• Ideally 10+ years’ experience in data centres, including the exit of Telstra’s critical applications and infrastructure 

• Extensive, demonstrable experience across facility planning, construction, decommissioning and operations 

• Proven delivery of complex programs and projects valued at $5m+ across acquisition and sustainment phases 

• Strong knowledge of Telstra IP and internal relationships, enabling you to reduce risk and drive continuity 

• Demonstrated ability to manage high stakeholder complexity, while keeping end users front of mind 

• Strong vendor negotiation capability across data centre exit and divestment programs 

• A decisive, outcome‑focused leadership style with excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills 

• Ability to work independently in a flow‑to‑work environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines calmly under pressure
