The Role - Senior Data Engineer
We are seeking a Canberra based, Senior Data Engineer with strong data and SQL experience to support the delivery of secure, data focused platforms in a highly regulated environment. The role focuses on building and operating reliable, scalable data platforms that enable teams to work effectively with complex, high -volume data. You will design and maintain data processing workflows, transform raw data into trusted and usable datasets, and ensure solutions are robust in production, working closely with analytics, data science, and engineering teams to shape how data is structured, moved and consumed across the organisation using sound engineering and architectural practices.
You MUST be an Australian Citizen with minimum Baseline security clearance.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong data wrangling skills with modern tools such as Apache Beam/Dataflow, EMR or Hadoop ecosystem.
- Solid understanding of data models, entity relationships and structured/unstructured data with strong SQL skills.
- Ability to build and maintain reliable data pipelines in production environments.
Good to Have:
- Experience with cloud data platforms or analytics services.
- Programming experience in Python, Java, NodeJS, or similar.
- Familiarity with cloud messaging, scheduling or orchestration tools.
- Experience collaborating with analytics or data science teams.
- Understanding of system architecture and production impacts.
