Your role at St John of God Midland Private Hospital
Be part of something exceptional from the very beginning. As we prepare to open a brand-new state-of-the-art private hospital this August, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary team to play a key role in shaping high quality nutrition services from the ground up.
The Senior Dietitian works alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical nutrition and dietetic services to clients using advanced clinical practice skills. The Dietitian ensures practice is in accordance with the Dietitians Australia (DA) Professional Standards and Code of Conduct and SJGHC policies and guidelines.
The Senior Dietitian is expected to work independently and demonstrate a specialist level of knowledge and depth of experience. The Senior Dietitian is expected to initiate and participate in teaching, training, research and quality activities, to supervise students and supervise and mentor junior caregivers.
The Position
Provides a senior nutrition and dietetic service to patients/clients and or carers on an individual or group level for both inpatients and or outpatients including management of more complex patients.
Coordinate the provision of special dietary requirements of patients/clients
Provide consultation and support to medical, nursing, catering and allied health professionals within the Division, and external agencies, as appropriate.
Uses expert nutritional knowledge acts as a consultant to the hospital catering service to inform menu development and compliance with the relevant hospital Nutritional standards.
Document patients’ medical nutrition therapy in the approved manner.
Participate in multidisciplinary activities e.g. team meetings, ward rounds, or case conferences, as required.
Participate in the delivery of education programmes within the dietetics service and for other caregiver groups.
Develop and review dietary education resources.
Participate in other Divisional activities as assigned.
Supervise, instruct and assess dietetic junior caregivers, and students in approved clinical teaching programs in liaison with the Supervisor/Manager
Promotes professional values and ethics in clinical practice.
Demonstrates consolidated, current knowledge of research, evidence-based practice in Nutrition and Dietetics and related clinical areas.
As relevant, supervises and supports Allied Health Assistants to deliver effective services.
Required to exercise independent professional judgment on routine matters. They may require direct professional supervision from more senior caregivers when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.
You will hold a tertiary qualification in Dietetics and be eligible for full membership with Dietitians Australia (DA) and evidence of Accredited Practicing Dietitian status.
To succeed you will have demonstrated ability to plan and implement assessments and appropriately apply Evidence Based Practice and dietetic knowledge to patient/client management, treatment interventions and discharge planning at advanced level of practice.
About the new Midland Private Hospital
A brand-new purpose-built state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, located just 300 metres from the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Campus.
A comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, with interventional cardiology being offered for the first time in the region
The hospital will feature:
96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six-bed critical care/high dependency unit
33 bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit
Eight operating theatres
A Cardiac Catheter Laboratory
We can offer you
Salary: $130,914 to $139,591 (pro rata for part time) plus 12% superannuation
Permanent part time position
