Job Summary
This full‑time Band 2 role offers the chance to shape Telstra’s in‑house network engineering capability. You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, partnering with stakeholders to transform business needs into robust solutions. Your work will directly support Telstra’s ‘made‑in‑Telstra’ philosophy.
• Gather and refine business and technical requirements.
• Design end‑to‑end architectures and produce clear documentation.
• Lead hands‑on development in Rust and Golang.
• Integrate systems and apply SRE principles for observability and automation.
• Define and execute unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing.
• Oversee deployments and operational readiness.
• Produce documentation and deliver knowledge transfer.
• Mentor engineers and uplift engineering practices.
• Promote in‑house development and identify innovation opportunities.
You’re an experienced network software engineer and technical leader with:
Core Skills
10+ years hands‑on coding in Rust and Golang.
Strong software delivery experience across analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment—ideally in telco environments.
Deep understanding of system integration, APIs, distributed systems, and network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S).
Experience building secure, reliable, observable systems across cloud or on‑prem.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
Attributes
Full‑stack mindset with strong SRE habits and minimalist coding philosophy.
Proven ability to build network‑based platforms from the ground up.
Exposure to agentic AI, Agile, and DevSecOps.
Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.
