Senior Electrical and Controls Engineer

The Senior Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and integration of electrical and control systems within Pixii’s energy storage and renewable energy solutions. The role involves working on product design and project implementation to ensure that Pixii’s technology aligns with customer infrastructure requirements. The position requires expertise in high-voltage battery systems, control systems, and renewable energy technologies. The Senior Controls Engineer will also support the company’s growth by contributing technical knowledge to international expansion efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical and control systems for energy storage and renewable energy projects.
• Develop energy storage solutions using HVDC and LVDC batteries, inverters, and hybrid renewable technologies.
• Configure and integrate Pixii products to meet client project goals.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, switchboards, and control panel layouts.
• Conduct protection and coordination studies to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Perform electrical and control system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Develop and implement testing and commissioning plans, ensuring systems meet performance requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and user manuals.
• Provide training and technical support to clients and internal teams.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and technological advancements.
• Identify opportunities for process optimisation and cost reduction to drive continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in electrical and controls engineering, preferably in renewable energy, mining, oil & gas, or construction.
• RPEQ registration in Electrical Engineering.
• Previous experience in a senior electrical engineering role.
• Expertise in high-voltage battery systems, grid connections, generator integration, and protection studies.
• Strong understanding of NEM operational requirements for battery systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Process-oriented mindset with a commercial understanding.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
• Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Willingness to travel for project meetings, site visits, and commissioning activities.

Working Conditions
