Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.

About the role

As a Senior Engineer within the Grid Connections and Compliance team, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Western Australia's power system. Working at the forefront of the energy transition, you will lead the development and application of Generator Performance Standards (GPS), facilitate the connection of new generation to the South-West Interconnect System (SWIS), and ensure ongoing compliance with technical requirements.

Supporting the security, reliability and resilience of the SWIS, you will provide expert engineering advice, undertake complex technical assessment, and collaborate with industry stakeholders to deliver practical solutions to emerging power system challenges. What you will be doing

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of Generator Performance Standards frameworks, technical methodologies and assessment processes across the SWIS.

  • Provide specialist technical advice and undertake complex assessments of new and existing generating systems to support connection, compliance, and power system security outcomes.

  • Lead and support commissioning and compliance activities associated with the generator registration and connection process.

  • Partner with Network Providers, Market Participants, regulators and industry stakeholders to negotiate, implement and maintain generator performance standards.

  • Investigate generator performance issues and compliance matters, developing practical solutions and remediation strategies to address technical and operational risks.

  • Contribute to market and regulatory reform initiatives by providing expert input into rule changes, policy development and industry best practices related to generator performance.

  • Act as a trusted subject matter expert, mentoring others, supporting operational teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives across generator connection and compliance activities.

What you will bring to the role

Experience and Knowledge

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline relevant to power systems analysis.

  • Demonstrated expertise in generator connection processes, Generator Performance Standards and the assessment of generator and power system performance issues.

  • Experience in power system operations, network analysis and modelling, with a strong understanding of electricity generation, transmission systems and power system performance.

  • Excellent communication, technical writing and time management skills, with the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, practical insights for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to exercise sound engineering judgement in a dynamic and evolving industry environment.

In return some of our benefits to you

  • Flexible working: work from home, part time, job share, hybrid options, and additional leave options

  • Professional development via projects, industry networks, job rotation, study assistance and more.

  • Give back with up to 4 days of volunteering leave per year.
